A check was sent this week to the NCCYC for soccer, volleyball, and other miscellaneous fees totaling $5,720.12. Concession stand: There will be a concession stand sign up night the first week of January for those parents that signed up for basketball. That is when we will know for sure what nights the gym will host CYC basketball. Uniforms: The 2 uniform exchange days went very well. Only 14 uniforms were not returned and those $25 deposit may be forfeited. About six uniforms for basketball players still need to be picked up. The new Uniform Exchange system is working very well in reducing uniform leakage. Soccer uniforms are next in line for an update and will be discussed at the January SAMAA meeting. Equipment: Almost all of the
soccer and volleyball equipment has been returned and basketballs have been
distributed. We should look into new volleyballs before next season. Scorebooks
for basketball teams need to be purchased and we will look into the purchase of
an electric air pump for balls. Soccer: No report Training League Soccer Tournament: No report Volleyball: Congratulations to the 5th grade girls and the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys that made it to City-County. The 6th grade boys finished in second place. We still need to collect volleyball equipment from a couple of teams. We are still collecting fees from teams that played in the Saturday morning Training League Volleyball League hosted by St. Angela Merici. Basketball: CYC Kickoff meeting will be at St. Ann on December 23rd 7:00 pm with the start of the season the first week of January. Last day to add/drop players is February 1st, but we will need any paperwork prior to that to make sure it is processed in time. Training League Basketball: Kindergarten thru 2nd grade will play at St. Ann and 3rd grade will play at BTC. Baseball/Softball: Sign-ups will be held in February. Baseball & Softball Training League Tournament: We are looking for volunteers to run the 2009 tournament otherwise the tournament will not be held. Gymnasium: The gym will be closed December 23rd, 24th, and 26th so the gym floor can be thoroughly cleaned and waxed following the repair to the roof and paid by Father Keller. Basketball practices can resume on Saturday, December 27th. Alco Manufacturing has aligned and serviced all 6 backboards and rims including repairs to the mechanism that raises and lowers the two main backboards and padding under those backboards. Gym availability to the CYC for basketball is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We will find at the basketball kickoff meeting the days and times we will be hosting. Old Business: No old business was discussed. New Business: Father Keller has
agreed to the installation of a storage shed in the grass area behind the gym
outside the exit closest to the stage. This will be used to store equipment not
in season and will free up some space in the gymnasium storage closet. People who want to express suggestions or complaints about the St. Angela teams or the SAMAA can express them by coming to the monthly meetings or they can put them in writing by using Feedback or Coaches Evaluation Forms on the SAMAA website. The Athletic Association has agreed to Christmas gifts of money for Father Keller and Father Anthony.
